Prior to joining Global Tech Link, in April
2003, Mike Jeffress worked as Vice President
of Business Development for Gemstar – TV Guide
between 1999 and March 2003. In that capacity, where he reported
to the chairman and CEO, he was responsible for the evaluation
of strategic opportunities, M & A activities, key customer
relationship management, and licensing of Gemstar’s
various technologies to the consumer electronics and personal
computer marketplaces.
Before his tenure with Gemstar, Mike spent 5 years, between
1994 and 1999 with TV Host, which was one of the largest cable
guide publishers in the US before being acquired by TV Guide,
as an entrepreneurial Vice President of Business Development
and spearheading its new media initiatives. While at TV Host
Mike led operations, licensing and product marketing and development
of TV Host’s computer based IPG products, which were
shipped with virtually all major PC makers.
He was also responsible with strategic alliances, which included
the New York Times, Washington Post, CompuServe, Microsoft,
Times-Mirror, Time Warner New Media, among many others.
Before co-founding a company that pioneered the PC-based IPG
products
(a technology which was later acquired by Gemstar TV Guide),
Mr. Jeffress worked as a consultant, and held various technical
and management positions
with companies including Marriott Corporation.
Mr. Jeffress has appeared on various national television broadcasts,
been the subject of numerous news articles in the business
press, including the New York Times, and Wall Street Journal,
and believes that one of the highlights of his career was
his nationally televised testimony before the Senate’s
Judiciary Committee,
as an expert witness on entrepreneurship in the software industry,
along with other distinguished witnesses: Larry Ellison, Jeff
Papaw, Mitchell Kertzman and Robert Glazer.
Mike graduated from Yorktowne Business Institute, College
Park Maryland in 1982.
